tNavigator 26.3: Smarter AI, Enhanced Subsurface Workflows and Advanced Simulation

Rock Flow Dynamics continues to expand the capabilities of tNavigator with the 26.3 release, bringing new developments across AI-assisted workflows, reservoir simulation, petrophysics, seismic interpretation, geology, production engineering and integrated modelling.

From a more capable AI Assistant and GPU-supported simulation enhancements to new petrophysical data workflows and advanced seismic interpretation tools, version 26.3 is designed to help subsurface teams work more efficiently across the entire asset lifecycle.

A Smarter and More Flexible AI Assistant

AI Assistant receives several significant upgrades in tNavigator 26.3.

The default Large Language Model used by AI Assistant Server has been updated to Gemma 4, increasing the maximum context size to 256,000 tokens and improving responses to more challenging user requests.

AI Assistant can also now:

  • Automatically correct AI-generated workflows when errors occur during execution, or suggest possible solutions.
  • Connect to third-party Large Language Models directly from the tNavigator client on a user’s workstation.
  • Create, open and manage projects across different tNavigator modules, including importing models and running calculations.
  • Analyse attached text files directly within the AI Assistant window.

Together, these enhancements move AI Assistant further beyond conversational support towards practical assistance with engineering workflows.

Enhanced Petrophysics Workflows

Following the introduction of the Petrophysics module in 26.2, tNavigator 26.3 expands its capabilities with additional data formats, corrections and analysis tools.

Users can now import LAS 3.0 well logs, supporting multiple independent measurement sections, string parameters and multidimensional arrays within a single file. The release also introduces Spectral Well Logs, including the import of multichannel survey data from DLIS files and visualization directly within the Well Section.

Additional improvements include Laterolog Correction for borehole and shoulder-bed effects and an interactive Data Normalization tool for normalizing well logs against reference distributions.

More Powerful Reservoir Simulation

tNavigator 26.3 introduces several enhancements to the Simulator kernel aimed at extending modelling capabilities and computational workflows.

For compositional isothermal models, oil-gas-water (OGW) flash calculations are now supported on GPUs, including phase-equilibrium calculations that account for water vaporization. The release also introduces modelling of water evaporation into the gas phase for isothermal models and the ability to account for porosity effects in Arrhenius and TST reaction-rate calculations.

SUMMARY calculation results can also now be output directly in CSV format, providing a versatile format for transferring and working with simulation data.

New Tools for Geology and Seismic Interpretation

Geology Designer introduces several workflow and visualization improvements in 26.3.

A new Thickness interpolation method enables thickness-map modelling while taking pinch-out lines into account. Users can also import Online Maps through Web Map Service (WMS) directly into their projects.

Well-log visualization has also been streamlined with configurable Default Well Log Styles, while a dedicated visualization tab is now available for displaying stratigraphic tables.

For seismic workflows, the release introduces a new Seismic Mistie Table for analysing and editing seismic misties, together with the ability to compare multiple seismic volumes using Transparency mode. An interactive seismic horizon editor and the new Intelligent Fault Enhancement attribute further support interpretation and fault tracking.

Improved Geosteering and Reservoir Performance Analysis

Geosteering workflows have been enhanced with the ability to create and delete Bend and Fault objects directly from the Shift Settings table. Marker projections from a reference well can also be displayed on the horizontal track of the well being drilled, supporting predictive evaluation of formation intersections during drilling.

Reservoir Performance introduces Fractional-Dimension Analysis, enabling estimation of reservoir and fracture properties under different flow regimes in multi-fractured horizontal wells. Users can also create Numerical Models directly within Rate Transient Analysis.

Stronger Integrated Modelling and Production Workflows

Version 26.3 also expands capabilities across Model Designer, Production Designer, Network Designer and Well Designer.

Key improvements include a new Model Overview for quick access to model properties and parameters, support for integrated models with multiple independent surface network projects, graphical optimization flowcharts in Network Designer, and improved modelling of pressure losses caused by local pipe fittings.

Well Designer also introduces Hydro correlation for choke pressure-drop calculations and a new Correlation Analysis tab for selecting optimal correlations based on actual measurements.

A More Connected Digital Energy Workflow

With tNavigator 26.3, Rock Flow Dynamics continues to strengthen the integration between subsurface disciplines, engineering workflows and AI-assisted tools.

The release combines smarter AI capabilities with expanded simulation, petrophysics, seismic, geology, geosteering and production engineering functionality – helping teams reduce workflow fragmentation and work within a more connected digital environment.
